How do you create a full-bodied premium brand?

Our Client

Creating a new chapter in their lives, Tony & Jane Burton planted a vineyard on a 1.5 hectare site adjacent to their home in 2016 with the aim of producing exceptional English Quality Wines, both still & sparkling. The ideal site in Upper Swanmore is elevated and in the heart of The South Downs National Park.

Why a rebrand?

The day to day work of running the vineyard and nurturing the vines is a hands on task for the couple and saw their first harvest in 2019 and first wines released a year later. The focus was on producing the best quality grapes and the fine “Single Vineyard” quality wines would follow, with limited wine production annually; the aim was to establish a premium brand and a strong local following.

How and What we created

Tony reflects on the branding experience:

“From the outset a truly defining brand was a priority for us to reflect our shared ethos and values and to give credibility and status to the product whilst creating an enduring identity from which the business could evolve. Carl very quickly got under the skin of our objectives ,and in particular the integrity of our ways; we wanted this to portray our traditional solid honest approach to all aspects of caring for the plants, creating fine wines, and running the business. After much constructive probing a comprehensive ideas document was produced which brilliantly illustrated Carl’s lucid yet very creative thought process to arrive at a beautifully simple clean and traditional look to the brand and one which just sits as if it is naturally long established. The branding principles have been rigidly followed by Carl in all that we have subsequently done in terms of our identity and marketing whilst still leaving plenty of scope for creativity along the way within these carefully established parameters. As such we see the brand remaining fairly timeless and very adaptable.”

Impact of the rebrand

Wyches Vineyard has in its first 5 years of wine production won several top awards for all three still wines and last year a Silver Award for our first Sparkling Wine From our 2021 harvest. As well as a now well established local following with on line sales and through local farm shops and wine merchants , the wines are now listed at some highly regarded hotels and restaurants in Hampshire.
